Tri Valley Babe Ruth mourns the loss of Frank Knox

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Coach Frank Knox who lost a very courageous battle with cancer September 3, 2011.

Frank is a legend of Tri-Valley Babe Ruth and his Royals program was well known throughout bay area baseball circles. The success of our league can be directly attributed to his influence as a leader, coach, instructor, competitor and mentor to so many players and coaches in our program. Frank spent more than a dozen years in the league and won a record 6 league championships as well as numerous All-Star district, state and regional titles throughout the years. His 2006 13 Year old team won the Babe Ruth World Series at Hamilton, NJ and his 2005 14 year old squad captured 3rd at Quincy, MA.

Tri-Valley President Randy Moore commented, “Frank Knox is the best youth baseball coach I have ever been around. His focus on fundamentals and playing the game the right way really stand out for me. The players in his program were very fortunate to have had him as coach during their formative baseball years. It was very difficult to beat Frank on the field as his teams were always well prepared, fundamentally sound and fast. He competed every day as a coach for his players and prepared them well for high school baseball and life in general. I will greatly miss our conversations and advice he provided to me regularly over the past 10 years.”

We offer our deepest sympathies to Frank’s wife Karen and sons Michael and Robert and cherish his memory.

A memorial service for Frank will take place on Sunday, September 11th at 11 am at the Highland Oaks Community Center, 4530 Sandalwood Drive, Pleasanton .

FALL BASEBALL - Annual TVBR Fall Skills Clinic  September 18, 2011
Tri-Valley Babe Ruth will now hold its Annual Fall Skills Clinic on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Camp Parks.   Registration begins at 8:30 and the clinic will run from 9:00-12:00.   The cost is $50. This event is led by top area College and High School coaches and provides a great opportunity for league managers to see potential new players for the 2011-2012 season. Advance Registration is welcome and can be completed by sending an email to trivalleybaberuth@sbcglobal.net with the following information:

Tri Valley 15 year old All-Stars make history...

TVBR 15s made history today! They beat Tri-Township, PA 3-1 in 8 innings to clinch the 13-15 year old Babe Ruth World Series Championship! They are the only team in TVBR history to appear in the Babe Ruth World Series all three years and the only team in TVBR history to win the Babe Ruth World Series Championship twice. Congratulations to all the players & families, Manager Paul Pluschkell & Coaches Ron Anderson & Mike Piscotty!
